STOW - Edward Thomas Gidley, 81, passed away peacefully, April 25, 2025, from natural causes.

Edward (Ed) was born in Akron Ohio, on July 21, 1943, to Edward and Betty Gidley. Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Witner Gidley; his sister, Elaine Suffolk, and his parents, Edward Gidley and Betty Gidley Wolf. He is survived by his daughter, Alisa Messner, and her husband, John Messner, and their children, Georgia and Larry Messner, and by his siblings, John Gidley, Loretta Bowers, Wanda Brooks, William Mark Gidley, Robert Gidley, James Gidley, and Carolyn Cuningham Gidley.

Edward moved with his parents and siblings from Akron to Stow in 1957, and he graduated from Stow High School in 1961. Shortly after his marriage, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966. He served with honor in Vietnam, Japan, Washington D.C., and then Germany, retiring after 20 years of service in 1986. Edward served his country in the Army with distinguishment, retiring as a CW3.

After his military life, Edward moved back to Stow, Ohio where he lived working for various computer servicing companies. During this time, he and his wife, Linda, enjoyed traveling the country in their fancy RV, seeing America and her many natural parks. Edward loved his family, his country, and his Lord, and looked forward to seeing his Lord Jesus face to face. One of Edward's favorite Scripture texts was Philippians 1:21-23, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain . . . Yet what shall I choose I do not know. I am torn between the two . . . I desire to depart and be with Christ."
