Edward Alan Gillum, of Hubert, departed this life at the age of 56 on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Edward possessed a rugged charm that belied the extraordinary kindness within. He was a man who would move mountains for those he cared about, a loyal friend and devoted family member. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from the roar of his motorcycle echoing through the countryside to the quiet contemplation of a peaceful day spent fishing. The outdoors were his sanctuary, a place where he could stop and recharge. This deep appreciation for the natural world mirrored his own inherent strength and resilience, a testament to the life he built on hard work and unwavering dedication. His love for his friends and his family wasn't just a sentiment; it was the very core of his being, a vibrant beating heart that fueled his every action. He lived life fully, embracing its challenges and celebrating its joys with equal measure. He will be deeply missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, J.D. Gillum and fiancé, Angela of Hubert; fiancée, Lari Lauder of Hubert; daughters, Evelyn Lauder of Hubert, Alexandra Waldron of Naples, Italy and Susan Day of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, James Gillum of Maryland, Joe Angelini of Newport and Kenny Gillum of Maryland; sisters, Pamela Howard (Billy) of Delaware, Audra Kunkel of Maryland and Rachael Gillum of Florida; grandchild, Elijah Woods; mother of J.D., Krissy Gillum; and many friends.
Edward is preceded death by his parents, James and Zelma Gillum and brother, Scotty Gillum.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday March 13th, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Kahlert Funerals & Cremations in Maysville for a time of fellowship and remembrance. To honor Edward's memory, the family requests that you come dressed in your favorite casual attire.
