SOUTHBURY - Edward Guest 79, of Southbury Ct passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 6, 2023. Born in New Haven he was the son of his late parents Henrietta & Edward Guest. He also was the brother of the late Raymond Guest. Ed was born on April 28, 1944. He lost his parents at a very early age and moved to Southbury Training School on April 8, 1954.
On the campus of STS Ed enjoyed living in different cottages and developed strong relationships with his peers and the staff that worked with him on a daily basis. Over the years Ed did many jobs – delivering the mail, laundry mat, thrift store, etc Ed's all time favorite job however was working at The Print Shop with his "Boss/Go to Guy" Tony Alves, His Other "Go to Guys" included Ed O'Keefe, Joe Hughes, Pat Vincent!
Ed's Biggest and Best" Go to Guy" was his Main Man, Tim Kelly. Ed and Tim developed a Very Special Bond over the years, right up until his death!
Ed enjoyed working, making money, saving money, spending that money. He Absolutely Loved Putting Puzzles Together, working on his model planes, cars. He enjoyed collecting matchbox cars, antique cars. He loved the annual STS Car Show every September. Ed loved joking around!
Ed's love for Scary Movies was second to no one! The bloodier/gorier The Better! His Favorites Included The Walking Dead, Halloween, all the Chucky Ones were at The Top of Eddie's List! He loved going out on trips – especially hobby shops, various restaurants, his favorite stop - Dunkin Donuts! He enjoyed bowling, going to The Big E, Camp Harkness! Ed also participated in Special Olympics Bocce & Bowling – he enjoyed trying to win "Gold Medals"
Ed had many passions/loves but none more then his Love for Christmas! He Really Enjoyed Decorating for Christmas and was always ready to go the day after Thanksgiving! He put up the lights, blowups, the train, tree, ornaments – you name it he put it up for Christmas! He then would love telling and showing you all he did!!!! Christmas was Definitely Number One!
Over the last 10 years Ed battled a lot of health problems. The care he received from all the nurses, Chi, Dr Patel, direct care staff and Ed's Will to Want to Live was Amazing – Thank You to Everyone!!!!
There will be a small grave side remembrance at Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven, CT on Tuesday June 27th @ 11am.
