Edward Johnson

Edward Johnson, known to his friends and family as "Ed," was born August 17, 1955, to the late Heyward and Leila Mae Ham Johnson in Effingham, SC. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Ed was reared in a Christian home and found Christ at an early age. He was a member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church and served on the Senior Usher Board and helped oversee the Youth Usher Board.
Ed graduated from Southside High School and furthered his education at Florence-Darlington Technical College. He later joined the United States Air Force.
Following his years in the military, Ed held several positions before becoming employed by the City of Florence, where he worked for 35 years before retiring. Following retirement, Ed worked as a school crossing guard for the Darlington County Sheriff's Office.
Ed enjoyed walking and jogging and was referred in the community as "The Running Man" and "The Stick Man" because he always carried a stick. He was a sweet and kind man that enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Lamar High Silver Fox Football.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Heyward and Leila Mae Ham Johnson, two brothers, Willie Johnson and Sylvester Johnson, and three sisters, Allie Jenkins, Mary Bostick and Queen Esther King.
Surviving to cherish the loving memory of Mr. Edward Johnson, include his wife, Kathy Walker Johnson; three daughters, Adrian Walker of Florence, SC, Dana Johnson of Charleston, SC and Edneesha Johnson of Florence, SC; Two grandsons, Brayden McKnight and Noah Roper; two children he took under his wings, Khia Wright and Kyrie Wright; four brothers, Nathaniel (Elizabeth) Johnson of Roermond, Netherlands, Levander (Margo) Johnson of Effingham, SC, Levi Johnson of Florence, SC, and Christopher (Alease) Johnson of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Thomasenia Johnson of Effingham, SC, Lula Johnson of Columbia, SC, and Dora Wade of Pensacola, FL; three brothers-in-law, Elder Joe L. (Colathia) Walker of Copperas Cove, TX, Dequincey Walker and Elijah Hicks, both of Lamar, SC; three sister-in-law's, Nevera Johnson of Orangeburg, SC, Mary Johnson of Florence, SC, and Pamela Walker Hicks; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
