Edward M. Leadbetter, 71, of Whitman, Massachusetts, died on April 15, 2025, at Queen Anne Skilled Nursing Facility surrounded by family. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, in 1954, he was the son of the late Edward T. Leadbetter and
Shirley (Billotte) Leadbetter.
He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1972, where he met his wife of 47 years, Lizabeth. Eddie worked as a mechanic at Leadbetter's South Ave. Motors, a family-operated business, for 40 years. Through his work, he formed lasting friendships with his customers, who were like family to him. He enjoyed meeting new people and always seemed to make a friend wherever he went. He coached T-Ball, was a scout leader, and volunteered for many years at the Whitman Middle School Haunted House. Eddie loved watching the Patriots and vacationing with his family on Martha's Vineyard. He was well known and respected in the Whitman community, where he and his wife lived in the same neighborhood for 47 years. He never missed an event his children were involved in.
He is survived by his wife, Lizabeth (Miller) Leadbetter, who was always by his side for 54 years. He was the brother of Brian Leadbetter, Cheryl (Leadbetter) Bean, David Leadbetter, Gail (Leadbetter) Stephenson, and Kevin Leadbetter. Eddie leaves behind three children: Jason M. Leadbetter and wife Erin of Hanson, Rachel (Leadbetter) Shields and husband Jim of Whitman, and Amy (Leadbetter) Adams and husband Joshua of Hanson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Samantha Shields, who always put a smile on his face.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23rd at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth St, Whitman, Massachusetts (Route 58 at the rotary). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 24 th at 10 am, also at Blanchard Funeral Chapel.
