Edward Lukowski, 84, of Selbyville, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on October 3, 1940, Ed was the beloved son of the late Marion F. and Elva (Malhowski) Lukowski and was predeceased by his brother Robert Lukowski (Carole).
Ed was the devoted husband of Mary Jane, and they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on November 30th. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep love of one another.
He is lovingly survived by his children: Lisa Knoble (Bryon) and Cynthia Yurkovich (Edward), and stepchildren Donald Bitner II (Kim) and Jordana Cook (Wayne). He treasured being Pop-Pop to Brett, Dylan, Eric, Colton, Evan, and Julia, as well as Donald III and Joscelyn. He also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren who brought much joy to his life. Ed was the biggest fan at all his grandchildren's sporting events, from pee-wee leagues to college competitions, always arriving with a cooler filled with their favorite snacks and drinks.
Ed built a distinguished career as a chemist for Hercules, where he dedicated 34 years of service that included travel to almost every state. After retiring, he continued to share his expertise as a consultant in the industry before concluding his professional journey as a marketing director for a corporate law firm.
An avid golfer who also loved everything about beach living, he spent 12 years wintering in Florida, eventually retiring to his dream home near Fenwick Island, Delaware. Ed enjoyed personal travel with his wife, sharing that Maui was one of his favorite destinations. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast who loved watching his Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He found pleasure tending to his garden, where his green thumb produced beautiful results.
Ed will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and caring grandfather whose smile, friendly nature, and pleasing personality touched all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Romans 8:27: And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.
A private celebration will be held at a later date.
