Edward "Ed" Makowiecki Sr., 72, of Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, following heart and respiratory failure. A loving father, brother, and friend, Ed touched the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him through his humor, generosity, and unwavering kindness.

Born on July 25, 1953, in Monaca, Pennsylvania, Ed was one of five children to Henry Sr. and Agnes Makowiecki. He attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Monaca High School, later working at J&L Steel, as a Brakeman on the Railroad. Ed's life changed forever when he met and married his now ex-wife, Margaret "Margie" Laverty. Together they were blessed with their two greatest joys: their children, Eddie and Christine, who remained his greatest sources of pride and joy. In the winter of 1984, Ed and Margie bravely relocated to Colorado, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future. There, they filled their home with warmth, laughter, and wonderful memories.

In Ed's later years his hobbies were listening to classical music, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, playing bingo and poker with friends, and, most of all, writing stories. Sharing these stories was his way of connecting with others-his way of bringing a little more joy into the world. Ed's legacy lies not in grand achievements, but in the little moments he created and the kindness he showed to others. He was the kindest, most selfless person-always eager to share a smile or lend a helping hand. His generosity and good nature rippled outward, touching his community in ways he never realized.

Ed is survived by his son, Eddie Makowiecki, his daughter, Christine Morris (Andrew), five grandchildren; his siblings Henry Makowiecki, Jr. (Cathy), Martha Hodak (Dave), Tom Makowiecki, and Jane Makowiecki; and many cherished friends. He was preceded in in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Agnes Makowiecki.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Edward's life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 1:00PM - 3:00PM at 2301 N Woodlands Blvd, Castle Rock, CO 80104, Panorama Hall B. All who knew him are welcome to attend.

In the words Ed once shared; "Don't close the door on life because you never know what opportunities you might miss." His loved ones will hold this wisdom-and his memory-close to their hearts forever.

To the Makowiecki "kids". My deepest sympathy.

There´s a part of my childhood that died with him. We all were a big family in that one block area in the neighborhood we called home. There was always some sort of drama.

Ed was a special guy to me. The high school was about a ten minute walk from our neighborhood. I never would have been permitted to walk home alone after any night school function. My sophomore year there were many basketball games on the way to the state championship. We didn´t have the same friends but, he always waited for me and at times my girlfriend Patty to be an escort home. He always was a gentleman. We talked anything and nothing. He was always a good listener to any of my teenage problems.

I know after his accident robbed him of his memories. I´ll carry those for him.

God rest his soul.

Melissa Alger Feragotti.
