Jonathan (Johnny) Thomas Wilson, 35 years old, originally of Madison, CT, passed suddenly on August 6,
2024. Beloved father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, brother-in-law, and friend. A deep and beautiful soul,
his earthly presence will be missed by all who know and love him.
Johnny was fiercely original and imaginative, creating a long list of entertaining characters throughout his
life, beginning with the infamous "Pablo". His artistic talents were impressive, ranging from photography
to digital design to creative writing. And while Johnny was adept at conceiving many different identities,
he was always true to himself, refusing to be inauthentic. He said what he meant and believed in and
stood by his words. He also stood up for friends and strangers alike. And he maintained an enormous,
abundant love for his family as evidenced by his most often being the one who brought everyone
together and then be the "master of ceremonies" on family game nights.
Writing, photography, teaching, graphic design, skateboarding, and snowboarding were his special skills, and he had a general passion for immersing himself in the outdoors, among the mountains, lakes, and skies. And that love of nature often showed through in his masterful, majestic photography.
Johnny was a graduate of Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT and of the University of Connecticut
where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After college he moved to Colorado and resided
most recently in Summit County (Frisco, Breckenridge, Fairplay).
It was in Colorado where the great outdoors became his true home as he was enamored with living
around and amongst all the beauty nature has to offer. He adored the mountains. He would camp
under the stars and marvel at the nightly magic shows in the sky. He took amazing pictures of the Milky
Way, the planets, and the bazillions of stars of the galaxy. He relished hiking Colorado's fourteeners,
fascinated and often bemused by the variety of wildlife he would meet along the way. He loved the
water and was endlessly drawn to it, from taking hot tubs before his high school days to later discovering
rivers and lakes together with his brothers in Colorado. And he would never hesitate to take the plunge,
no matter the height of the cliffs, usually the first to jump go-pro in hand.
Johnny was pre-deceased by his father Tom Wilson and is survived by his mother, Nancy Murphy,
brothers Tyler Wilson of Denver, CO, Tucker (Danielle) Wilson of
Castle Rock, CO, Dillon (Lindsay) Wilson
of Frisco, CO, and U.S. Navy Seaman Apprentice Tommy Wilson of Great Lakes, IL, as well as his ever-
loving maternal grandparents Noland and Jane Murphy of Stuart, FL. He leaves a beloved daughter,
Venus Rose.
Johnny will be remembered in a small, private family event in Frisco, Colorado on Wednesday, August
14th. A Celebration of Life event honoring Johnny will be held on Saturday, September 14 from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at The Surf Club in Madison, 87 Surf Club Road, Madison, CT 06444.
