Edward Masha Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Lapeer on Feb. 15, 2022.
Edward Masha made his final quiet exit on February 12, 2022, surrounded by the people he loved most. Eddie, born on August 13, 1951, was the first of five children for the late Albert and Irene Masha. Being the oldest, Eddie was everyone's go-to guy for advice, encouragement, a listening ear, and honest feedback.
Ed's greatest love was his family. Even after 42 years together, his face would still light up every time his wife, Natalie, walked into the room. He was an affectionate husband and didn't miss a chance to hold her hand, kiss her forehead, or give her a squeeze. His sons, Cody and Dustin were his pride and his joy, even when they were a pain in his backside testing the boundaries.
Ed was a passionate and respected math professor at Kettering University. He always went the extra mile for his students and took great pride in their successes. He never missed an opportunity to share his insight and knowledge both in and out of the classroom. He enjoyed challenging his sons with teachable moments, like calculating the height of the trees in the yard based on the angle of their shadows.
Baseball, fishing, attending the symphony, watching the birds and nature from his front porch, playing with the dogs, deep conversations with close friends and family brought him great joy. He especially loved his dogs. For 25 years, Ed and Natalie raised and showed Rottweilers all over the country, where they made many friends along the way. A talented napper, there wasn't a road, family gathering, or friend's house that he couldn't fall asleep on or in.
Ed will be dearly missed by his loving wife Natalie, sons Cody and Dustin, brothers Michael (Diana) Masha, Tom Masha, sisters Marilyn (Dean) Bodanyi, Elizabeth (Brian) Drake, Mothers-in-law Nancy Tartoni and Beth Yaroch, sisters-in-law Leah (Mark) Hilty, Nicci (Wade) Rosted, brother-in-law Joe (Erin) Tartoni, many nieces and nephews, and good friends, especially Michael, Debbie, Tim, and Steven Conradt.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19th, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer, Michigan. Pastor Drew Jolly will officiate. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m until the time of the service at noon.
In lieu of flowers or contributions, the family requests that you reach out and be kind. Honor Ed's life by doing a random act of kindness for your fellow human or four-legged friends and always remember who you are.

Natalie I am so sorry for your loss. I hope that memories of your time with Ed as well as some of the crazier things we did at dog shows over the years will help dry a tear, ease the pain and hopefully put a smile on your face. Take care of yourself and the boys, God bless you, them and Ed.

I had Professor Masha for both of my freshman terms at Kettering, and only knew him for about 4 months. Within those 4 months, it became clear that he was one of the best math teachers I have ever had, regardless of the level of schooling. I have never come across someone who was so passionate about his subject like Professor Masha was. He was always eager to teach us and it seemed like he cared more about our success than we did at times. He was a great teacher and an even better person. I remember seeing him on Wednesday, February 9th, not knowing that that would be the last time I ever saw him again, and I really wish I had a chance to say goodbye. He will be greatly missed by many, and may he Rest In Peace.

Professor Masha was the first professor I ever met at Kettering University, I had his 102X class 8 am freshman year. From the beginning it was clear Professor Masha had an unwavering commitment to our learning and success. His passion for mathematics is second to none. Professor Masha was always there to help students and always kept us on our toes. He was always cracking jokes and finding ways to make our lectures the best they could. He will surely be missed by many.

Ed was beloved at Kettering, by students and faculty alike. I got to know Ed through our many discussions at the campus teaching center. His love for his students was evident in everything he said and did. I pray for peace for you all in this time.
