Edward Bernard McCabe, Jr. “Mac” passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025 at the New Orleans VA from Respiratory Failure. He was born on August 18, 1967 in Cranston, Rhode Island to Edward Bernard Sr. and Janice Theresa Papi. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy where he was honored with the following, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbons (2), Good Conduct Medal, Letter of Commendation, Southwest Asia Svc Medal, Kuwait Liberation (Kuwait), Nato Medal, and Sea Service.
Prior to the Navy he had many friends and family in Rhode Island. The remainder of his life he settled in River Ridge, Louisiana with his wife Margaret “Rett” Credo McCabe and children, Madison Elizabeth (29) and Mason Edward (16); his canine companion, Beignet; neighbors and friends that knew him well.
He is also survived by his loving sister, Terrie-Lin Stewart (Charles), and brother, Todd James McCabe; and a host of nieces and nephews from both sides of his family.
He loved to Cook and help those less fortunate.
At 57 years young he had a full life. His wishes are that his remains be interred in Arlington National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
