Edward Meagher Obituary
SALEM – Mr. Edward F. Meagher, 82 of Salem, beloved husband of Maureen F. (Ryan) Meagher, died peacefully, Friday, December 1st, 2023 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his beloved wife by his side.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys (McDermott) Meagher. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1960.
Mr. Meagher had been employed for many years with Allied Stores as a Checker in the mail room.
A long-time resident of the city of Salem, Ed had a deep passion for music and loved to entertain others playing his guitar and banjo. On a sunny day, he could often be found sitting beside the ocean at Pickering Wharf sharing his musical talents for residents and visitors alike. He was a favorite of shop owners as his talents often brought a crowd. He relished the out of doors and traveling around Salem on his pedal bike. Ed had many interests. He respected history and was a member of the Beverly Historical Society, and was a talented photographer and member of the North Shore Photography Club. An avid model train collector, his American Flyer and Lionel train collection was vast. He often travelled to model train expos and bazaars to meet fellow enthusiasts. Yet above all else, he was a devoted husband to his best friend, Maureen. He will be deeply missed.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Maureen (Ryan) Meagher of Salem and his brother, Joseph Meagher of Howland, Maine and many friends.
