Edward Leon Melton

Leon left this heavenly earth to be with his Lord and Savior on August 23rd, 2025. He was born in Cameron, Oklahoma on May 16, 1950 to George Melton and Ruby (Gober) Melton.
Leon grew up in Hollis, Oklahoma and went on to graduate from high school. He started working at the young age of "5" in the cotton fields. He had to use a pillow case to put his cotton in because he was so small. He went on to work at a bra factory as a mechanic before moving to Wewoka, Oklahoma. He started working at Big Yank Blue Jean factory where he met and married the love of his life, his wife of 46 years, Delores. After the closing of Big Yank, Leon attended Truck Driving School and obtained his CDL. He worked with J.B. Hunt before returning home and went to work for AutoZone. Being a truck driver was always near and dear to his heart which led him back to going on the road as a truck driver. He worked many years for Farm Fresh and Western Dairy Transport until he retired in 2022, to stay home with his wife and fur babies. Some of his hobbies included Friday night poker games, fishing, going to the casino and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his sisters Lois Williams and Rene Barbee, brother Bill Melton, son-in-law Scott Babb, father-in-law and mother-in-law Emery and Rose Hutchings, fur babies "Snoopy and "Beau".
He leaves behind his wife of 46 years Delores of the home, Lori Babb of Holdenville, son Brad Vandeveer and wife Myra of Holdenville, daughter Leann Kendall and husband Justin of Sisco, Texas, daughter Krystal Gorman and husband Doug of Keota. Grandson Christopher Babb and wife Melissa, great grandkids Brodie and Lexie Babb all of Broken Arrow, granddaughter Paige Morris, great grandson Easton all of Keota. 1 sister Lenora Carter of Wewoka, nephew Shawn Carter and wife Trisha of Maud. Grandkids; Justin Rogers, Haylie Rogers, Rylan Smith, Gunner Dallas, Elizabeth Dallas, Harley Kendall, Tucker Kendall, Lindsey (husband) Nick Gripp, great grandkids, Tucker, Emmalyn, Asher, baby boy and baby girl on the way and Mia Kate.
Leon will be forever missed and always in our hearts.
Pallbearers are Brad Vandeveer, Christopher Babb, Shaun Brewer, Stanley Madkins, Willie Guiant and Waylon Ford. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Carter, Donald Ray, Larry Lucas, Paige Morris, Tucker Kendall, Harley Kendall and Lindsey Gripp.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in the Holdenville Cemetery Chapel with Tony Chesser officiating.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
