Edward Wright ¨Ed¨ Nesbitt died at home in Charlotte on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Ed, a native of Charlotte, was born on March 4, 1971 in Greensboro to Barbara M. Nesbitt and the late Charles E. Nesbitt. Ed is survived by his loving wife Natalie M. Nesbitt, daughter Abbey (19), sons Jake (16) and Reid (15), mother Barbara Nesbitt, brothers David and Andrew, sister-in-law Becca and nieces, Caroline, Gracie, and Suzanne, and nephew William, as well as Heather Nesbitt. Ed also leaves behind brothers-in-law Nick Morgan (wife Kim and sons Nick and Jack), Marcus Morgan (fiance Michelle and daughter Olivia) and Charles Morgan (wife Jamie and daughter Ava).
Ed attended Charlotte Latin School and the University of South Florida. Ed practiced mortgage lending and became lifelong friends with clients and coworkers. Ed was a star soccer player at Charlotte Latin School. He instilled the love of soccer in his sons, Jake and Reid, who now play at Providence High School. The boys were his pride and joy and he took so much pleasure in watching them play soccer.
Ed was a generous and loyal friend, and incredibly passionate about live music. He was frequently found enjoying the music of Widespread Panic, U2 and many other amazing bands, always with Natalie. Ed had an amazing way of lighting up a room with laughter and had a true heart of gold.
He was best known for his creativity and cleverness in nicknaming his friends. For many years, Ed enjoyed his role of driving the elderly ladies of Sharon Towers to and from church at Sharon Presbyterian. Ed adored his family. Daughter Abbey was his listening ear, and they cherished their conversations and inside jokes.
His sons, Jake and Reid, shared in Ed's obsession with Manchester City where soccer became the boys' true passion. Ed met his amazing wife, Natalie, at Selwyn Pub. She saw him next to the jukebox machine and decided to follow Ed around the country to see Widespread shows and enjoy key tourist attractions in every city while waiting for the concert to begin. After four years on the road, Ed proposed in Hilton Head at their favorite spot - the Tiki Hut. They celebrated 20 years of marriage this past February.
They will remember his dedication to family and his sense of humor. All who knew Ed were lucky to have shared a laugh with him.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at Sharon Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 17th at 2:30 pm, and the family will greet guests immediately after. Close friends and family are welcome to a reception at the family home following the service. To celebrate Ed's memory, donations may be made to the Go Fund Me page that has been created for his children's education and future.
