Edward Nicklaus Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 4, 2025.
Edward "Ed" Nicklaus, 93, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, in Garden City, Kansas. A lifelong Kansan, Ed was born on February 19, 1932, in Peabody, Kansas, to Ed and Mildred Nicklaus.

Ed graduated from Peabody High School and went on to pursue higher education at Emporia State University. His passion for learning led him to earn a master's degree from Kansas State University. Throughout his life, Ed remained committed to education. He is remembered for his many years of service to Garden City Community College as an instructor, and then later as a board member.

He shared many cherished years with his beloved wife, Roselyn Nicklaus, who preceded him in death.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his daughter Deborah Nicklaus of Denver; his daughter Dr. Pamela Nicklaus of Kansas City and her husband Dr. Steven Simpson; grandsons Dr. Andrew Simpson and Nathan Simpson with wife Kelsey Ann; and two great-granddaughters, Stevie and Gwendolyn. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Earlene and Delores.

A man of many talents and boundless energy, Ed found joy in working with his hands. He was an avid woodworker who formed lasting friendships through his woodworking group. Whether fixing something around the house or restoring vintage sports cars in earlier years-and later bicycles to donate to those in need-Ed approached every project with care and purpose. His shop was a place of creativity and quiet generosity.

Those who knew Ed often left conversations feeling uplifted-he had a unique gift for making others feel good about themselves. Even in his final days, he continued thinking of ways to give to others. His parting words often echoed the sentiment he lived by: "Take good care of yourself."

May Edward Nicklaus's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness.

A celebration of life for both Ed and his wife Roselyn will be held at a later determined time in Garden City (and virtual). Please no flowers. If you'd like to remember Ed, the family suggests donations to the Nicklaus Family Scholarship at Garden City Community College (https://gcccendowment.com/giving).
