Edward J. Ruby, 52, of Mayfield, NY passed away on December 31, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with illness at Albany Medical center, with his loving wife by his side. Born on June 15, 1972 in Gloversville, NY he was the son of Edward "Rocky" Ruby and Anna Ruby.
A lifelong local resident, Edward graduated from Gloversville High School in 1990. Ed was a standout athlete who enjoyed playing football and competing throwing discus and shot put.
He was a beloved husband, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousins, godfather, and friend to many.
Edward was employed with Frontier Communications for 20 years and was an active member of IBEW 363. He had previously worked for Lexington, Keymark, Price Chopper and McDonalds in his younger days.
Ed will be fondly remembered for his zest for life, humor, love for the outdoors and his wife. He cherished spending time camping, fishing, shooting, traveling, and enjoying the company of family and friends.
A passionate enthusiast of classic cars, Ed found joy in owning and admiring these timeless vehicles. He was a lifelong dedicated NY Giants Fan and enjoyed attending many games. He also had a deep love for all animals, especially his dog, Maggie.
Survivors include his wife, Danielle (Peryea) Ruby; his father, Edward "Rocky" Ruby and his wife Elsie; his mother, Anna Ruby; his sister, Teresa Ruby; his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Patricia Peryea; brothers-in-law, Robert Peryea and his wife Michelle and Jason Peryea and his wife Shannon; nephews, Joshua Peryea and Nathaniel Peryea and his wife Cassandra; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society or the Fulton County Regional SPCA.
Relatives and friends are invited any may call on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 3p.m. until 5p.m. at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY. A celebration of life will follow from 5:30p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the Paul Nigra Center, 2736 NY-30, Gloversville, NY 12078.
