Marilyn Batty

Mrs. Marilyn Batty, 94, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Schenectady Center Nursing Home.
Marilyn was born on January 7, 1931, to the late Arthur Tomek and Marion Kobuskie in Gloversville NY.
She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and earned a degree from Albany Business College.
Marilyn married Arthur C. Batty, the love of her life, in September of 1953, and they were married for 61 years until his passing in 2015.
Her family was her pride and joy. She was a homemaker, raising four children, Mark, Lisa, Linda and Michael. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and painting. Marilyn and her husband enjoyed collecting antiques, as well as ballroom dancing. The couple's love and passion for dancing allowed them to create a circle of friends who shared that same joy.
She was an accomplished painter, working skillfully in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Her works were viewed and sold in many local art shows. Many of her paintings adorn the walls in the homes of her family and friends. Marilyn shared her talent by teaching art classes to others for many years at the Johnstown Senior Center.
Marilyn and her husband Arthur were members of St. John's Episcopal Church and enjoyed many activities with members of the congregation. Her strong religious beliefs were evident in the way she lived her life. She truly always looked for the best in everyone. Her patience, care, respect, and love were the essence of who Marilyn was. Marilyn's incredible strength guided her family through the ups and downs of life.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn is predeceased by her two sisters, Jo-Ann Burke and Jaclyn Davis and her grandson, Joseph A. Ruggeri.
Marilyn is survived by her four children, Mark C. Batty (Amy), Lisa Wager (Joseph), Linda C. Macklin (Michael) and Michael Batty (Monique); her grandchildren, Jeremy Batty, Courtney Batty, Hailey Dunlap, Joe Wager, Jenna Haskel, Jamie Luey, Alexandra Ruggeri, Vincent Ruggeri, Ben Batty, Ross Batty, Jake Batty and Max Batty, as well as 21 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, N Market St, Johnstown, NY 12095, followed by a service at the church at 11:00 AM.
