Edward J. Rumrill, a beloved figure in the Gloversville community, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, at the age of 73 with his family by his side. Born on June 13, 1952, in Gloversville, NY, Edward lived a rich and fulfilling life, one that was deeply rooted in family, passion, and craftsmanship. He was the cherished son of Donald J. Rumrill and Millicent "Husek" Lafountain, who both predeceased him, along with his long-time love and the mother of his children, Penny J. Ward, with whom he shared thirteen memorable years. Edward is survived by his two children, his beloved son Michael J. Rumrill and his devoted daughter Stacey L. Boyer / Rick Boyer Jr. He also leaves behind three granddaughters: Tori L. Boyer, Bradi L. "Boyer" Perry, and Kelsi L. Boyer, along with five great-grandchildren: Abigail, Xander, Jackson, Aliciana, and Liam, who will carry on his legacy of love and kindness. Edward's educational journey began at Gloversville Schools, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and dedication. He was a skilled mechanic, starting his career in a small garage owned by his father, Donald. After his father's passing, Edward took the reins of the family business before eventually selling it to pursue various mechanical and construction opportunities in the community. His love for cars was evident; he spent countless hours restoring vehicles, a passion that never wavered throughout his life. Just six weeks before being hospitalized, he was found under his granddaughter's pickup truck, changing a gas tank - a testament to his unwavering dedication to his craft. Beyond his mechanical talents, Edward was also a gifted artist. He found solace in drawing and painting, with some of his works displayed in local community offices. He was truly a jack of all trades, whether it was working on vehicles, restoring appliances with his long-time friend Dennis, or building and renovating in construction. Edward's adventurous spirit even led him to the Outer Banks, NC, where he continued his work in construction and partnered with a friend to run a small antique and collectible store, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. Edward was known as an amazing father, a man who could embody both the ruggedness of a bear and the tenderness of a loving soul, depending on the situation. He was well-loved by many, and his infectious laughter and warm heart will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know him. In accordance with his wishes, He will be cremated at Park View Crematorium. He requested his family not do a service. Edward J. Rumrill leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and artistry that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He was not just a father and grandfather, but a friend and mentor to many, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his life and love.
