Edward F. Rzepka, "Mr. Ed", went home to heaven on May 22, 2025.

Born in Chicago, IL on July 21, 1939, he enjoyed his childhood, riding his bike with his buddies to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs play. He was also a Chicago Bears fan. Ed graduated from Kelly High School, in Chicago, as Valedictorian of his winter graduating class. He served in the U.S Army from 1957 - 1961. On November 24, 1962, he married Eleanor Schwarze at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Horicon, WI. They were blessed with 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ed has touched the lives of so many, through his Chicago roots. In 1968, he and Eleanor moved to Hartford, WI where he worked at Chrysler Outboard, Midas, and Sycamore Tree. His faith was an important part of his life, and he served on the school board at Peace Lutheran School for many years. He also coached the boys' basketball team, a tradition carried on by his oldest son.

Ed served on the Hartford Emergency Squad from July 1st, 1981, to January 1st, 2004. This was a very important and most memorable time spent with his "Squad Family", as Assistant Chief and later Chief. He had the opportunity to fly with Flight for Life twice as a ride-along and was honored as Hartford's EMT of the year in 2002. His dedication and love for this organization, the countless hours, the acts of kindness, and the support for his family and community will live on as his legacy through all who worked with him. In his 30 years with Sycamore Tree, the children all got to know him and still remember him as their favorite "Mr. Ed".

Wisconsin Donor Network became a part of his life after Eleanor had also been involved for so long. The two enjoyed working at the State and County Fairs, attending seminars, and helping donor and recipient families.

Ed's life-long love of music continued through his remaining days, thanks to Lily Hospice.

May his memory offer comfort to all who knew and loved him. Honor his legacy by embracing faith, family, community, service, and compassion.

Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to a Memorial Service on August 3rd, 2025 at 1PM, at Peace Lutheran Church (1001 Center St., Hartford, WI). Following the Service, the family will greet visitors in the church fellowship hall until 4:00 p.m.

To all responders we dedicate this prayer to you:

EMT PRAYER

As I perform my duty Lord

Whatever may be the call

Help to guide and keep me safe

From danger big and small

I want to serve and do my best

No matter what the scene

I pledge to keep my skills refined

My judgement quick and keen

This calling to give of myself

Most do not understand

But I stand ready all the time

To help my fellow man

To have the chance to help a child

Restore their laugh with glee

A word of thanks I might not hear

But knowing is enough for me

The praise of men is fine for some

But I feel truly Blessed

That you oh Lord have chosen me

To serve the EMS
