Edward (Skip) Virgil was born on the 14th of May, 1937, in Niles, Michigan, and was a lifelong resident of Southwestern Michigan. Skip, as he was widely known, was a man known for his wit and humor. His jovial spirit and laughter were infectious to all who knew him. He had an uncanny ability to illuminate even the darkest room with his wit and charm. He was a dedicated man, not only to his family and friends but also to his many hobbies and interests.
Skip loved stories, both the ones he read and the ones he lived. He was an avid reader, with a particular affection for Western novels. This love of the wild west extended beyond the pages of books and into his daily life. He had a profound admiration for horses and Indian artifacts, which he collected and cherished. As someone who deeply appreciated his roots, Skip also dedicated much of his time to genealogy, tracing back his family's ancestry and bringing their stories to life. His dedication to preserving and sharing these tales was a testament to his love for history and his family.
Skip was not just a dedicated, hard-working gentleman, but also a loyal and loving friend. His loyalty was unwavering, as was his love for his adopted family-- Kevin and Karen Reiner and his cherished adopted grandchildren, Kyle, Kaleb, Kalyse (who shared his birthday), and Khenzie Reiner.
He is survived by his cousin Michael (Karen) Ott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Luella Virgil, and his cousin, Karl Ott.
A visitation for Skip will be held on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, at 5:00 pm EDT at Hoven Funeral Home, located at 414 East Front Street, Buchanan, Michigan, 49107. This will be followed by a Memorial Celebration of Life at 5:30 pm EDT at the same location.
Skip's life was a testament to his unique qualities and accomplishments, which will be cherished by all who knew him. His memory will continue to light up our lives, just as his wit and charm once did. We invite you to share your memories of Edward (Skip) Virgil and upload photos to his memorial page. His story will continue to be told through the love and memories we all share.
