Dr. Edward Walker Buddy Dayton Jr.

Dayton, Jr., Dr. Edward "Buddy" Walker, 92, a resident of Zachary, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 16, 2022. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Zachary from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes and Dr. Reggie Bridges. Burial will follow in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary. Mr. Buddy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Ruth Anne Bennett Dayton, daughters, Delynn Vines of West Monroe, Dianne Fletcher (Steve) of Zachary, Donna Zabel (Richard) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB Canada, son, David Dayton (Tamara) of Zachary, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by a son, Edward W. "Dub" Dayton, III, parents, Edward and Octavia Dayton and brothers, Frank and Leon Dayton. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Randy Partin, Joshua Vines, Jonathan Fletcher, Caleb Vines, Alec Zabel, Randall Zabel and Carson Dayton. Honorary pallbearers are his Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Buddy proudly served in the US Marines during the Korean War Conflict earning his rank of Sergeant. He earned his Doctorate in Animal Science at the University of Illinois. He was a Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church, Zachary, Sunday School Director at Multiple Baptist Churches, helped start the Louisiana Cattlemen's Association, Louisiana Sheep Association, instrumental in helping start Hunters Education in the public school system, Science Supervisor for the Louisiana State Department of Education.
