Rev. Edwin W. Blumenkamp, age 92, of Quincy, IL, celebrated his Heavenly Homecoming on Monday, November 15, 2021, in Blessing Hospital.
He was born July 22, 1929 in Hoffman, Illinois the son of Edwin A. and Anna F. Eickhoff Blumenkamp. On April 14, 1956 he married Betty L. Hugo in Carlyle, Illinois. She survives.
Ed was a 1947 graduate of Carlyle High School and went on to graduate from Concordia Seminary in Springfield, IL, in 1955. During his 65 years of ordained ministry Ed served in eight Lutheran Parishes. His dedication continued even after retirement as he continued to share his gift of ministry wherever it was needed. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and in his spare time enjoyed reading, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and golf. However, Ed's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 65 years include: 3 daughters, Lisa Hogbin and her husband Daryl of St. Louis, MO; Lori Nickoloff and her husband Keith of PennYan, NY; and Joy Brooker of Quincy; a son, John Blumenkamp of Salt Lake City, UT; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, six siblings, and a son in law Mark Brooker.
Visitation: 9:30 - 11:00 am Friday, November 19, 2021, at St. James Lutheran Church.
Services: 11:00 am Friday, November 19, 2021, in St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marlin Rempfer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery with a committal service led by Ed's daughter, Rev. Lori Nickoloff.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the South Wedge Mission in Rochester, NY (Ed's grandson, Rev. Matthew Nickoloff, is Pastor of the South Wedge Mission). Memorial Donations may be made online at https://memorials.hansenspear.com
