Edwin Clinton Colwell

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, and a resident of Brightmore Independent Living in Wilmington, North Carolina, Edwin Clinton Colwell died Monday, May 6, 2024 at Novant Health New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 2, 1933, the son of the late Edwin S. Colwell and Margaret Duffy Colwell.
Ed had a Batchelor's Degree in Structural Architectural Engineering, graduating from the University of Detroit in Detroit, Michigan.
In addition to sales and architectural positions, Ed was a General Manager in the construction of high-rise buildings in Cleveland and New York. His last position was Vice President of the Eastern Division of Essroc Cement (formerly Coplay Cement) in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
Ed was a hard worker and became a strict, but fair boss. He loved the "wheeling and dealing" of the business world and was successful in whatever he attempted. However, he also like to play. He enjoyed golf, square-dancing, and constructing sets for community theater productions.
Ed is survived by his wife, Judy Katherine Colwell; a sister, Sharon Kelly of Wadsworth, Ohio; three children, Margaret Colwell, David Colwell, and Daniel Colwell all of Cleveland, Ohio; two step-daughters, Janette Cherry of Wilmington, North Carolina and Julie Choi of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin F. Colwell.
A memorial service will be private.
