In loving memory:
Edwin Helge Danielson
Passed away on July 8th, 2025, in Redmond, Oregon
His devoted wife, Karen, was in Regency Rehab in Redmond during an extended stay due to a severely broken femur bone from a fall at home on May 17th of this year. Ed was able to make daily visits to his sweetheart of 60 years. The love and devotion demonstrated by Ed and Karen during these last couple of months was an ongoing testament to their love and commitment to each other.
Ed was intensely proud of his Swedish heritage, and their seven visits to Sweden reinforced his love of the country, its culture and his connection to family still living there. His wife (Karen) will always remember his love of Scandinavian music and he played the accordion himself.
Ed was born in Portland, Oregon on March 22, 1942, but grew up in Corning California where he graduated high school in 1960.
Attending schools in California and Oregon, he graduated proudly from NCC in Eugene Oregon (now known as Bushnell University). He was entered into a program at University of Oregon where he earned a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Education within one year of teaching. This began his career in Public Education, first teaching, then Principal and finally Superintendent at a few school districts in Oregon. He ended his career in Scappoose Oregon which he labeled the best years of his public education career.
Many highlights of his life are remembered by his family and lifelong friends, but Ed would want his Swedish connection to be highlighted as we all reminisce and remember his wonderful life. He spent hours listening to Scandinavian artists and playing music from earlier times, which his dad played and taught Ed. His father and most of his siblings immigrated from Borlänge, Sweden to America through the early days at Ellis Island.
Ed's life was filled with music which gave him such peace and joy.
His family: daughter Christine and her husband Brandon, grandson Zachery, granddaughter Caitlin and her fiancé' Hayden Bates have surrounded Karen (South) Danielson with their love and support during this very difficult time. All will miss their time with Ed tremendously.
A small private service will be held for family and close friends with a larger celebration of Ed's life to take place on September 28th at Immersion Brewing in Bend Oregon (1 pm – 5 pm).
For those wanting to remember Ed and to make a contribution to something that meant so much to him, donations can be made in his name to Bushnell University (formerly NCC Ed's alma mater).

Karen, I am very sorry to hear of Ed´s passing. Ed was my favorite superintendent. I really enjoyed working with him for seven years. He was a very positive upbeat person who always had a smile whenever he greeted me. He also was a friend and I loved talking to him especially about fishing. May you find comfort in your fond memories of your life together. Ted Moon
