Edwin Holloway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Lawson on Dec. 10, 2025.
Edwin Herrell "Ed" Holloway passed away on December 5, 2025, in Liberty, Missouri. Born on November 7, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, Ed lived a life marked by a passion for aviation, a dedication to teaching, and a love for craftsmanship and creativity.
A proud graduate of the Excelsior Springs High School, Class of 1956 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Ed's early years laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to learning and sharing knowledge. His career reflected this spirit: he trained pilots at both the Kansas City Municipal Airport (downtown) and the Excelsior Springs Municipal Airport. His work helped shape the skills and confidence of many aspiring aviators. Later in his professional journey, Ed served as a computer-based training instructor at Southwestern Bell in Houston, where he continued to apply his talents as an educator and mentor.
Ed's interests extended far beyond his professional life. A licensed private pilot logging over 7300 hours, he found joy and freedom in the skies. On the ground, he was an avid model ship builder-meticulously crafting museum quality wooden ships with care and precision-and a devoted photographer who captured moments through his lens with an artist's eye.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothea D. Herrell, and his father, William Howard Holloway; his grandparents Edmund and Elsie (Rhodus) Holloway and Dana and Dell (Fortune) Herrell.
Ed is remembered by those who knew him and loved him, including his sons and their wives...Mark and Rosa (Bailon) Holloway of Oceanside, California; Bowden and Katie (Graves) Holloway of St. Louis, Missouri; and Andrew and Felisha (Irving) Holloway of Boise, Idaho. Ed was also blessed to have the love of his 8 grandchildren: Spencer, Sarah, Alex, Evan, Rylee, Jackson, Annaleah, Coleston and his lifelong friend and confidant Pattie Payne, with whom he shared his love of travel and exploration. He is also survived by a brother, Joe Korosy of San Diego and loving friend Amber Smith.
May his memory bring comfort to all who were touched by his life. A Visitation will be held on December 11, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Lawson, 412 N. Raum St. with burial at the Lawson Cemetery in the Holloway Family plot.
"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
