Edwin Clinton McGuire, known affectionately as Eddie to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 80, in Auburn, Alabama. Born on June 29, 1945, in Clanton, Alabama, Eddie's life was characterized by his unwavering warmth, entrepreneurial spirit, and his love for his family and community.
Eddie is lovingly remembered by his spouse, Dorothy McGuire, and seven children: Eddie McGuire (Christy), Mike Carlisle (Kim), Junior McGuire (Amy), Keith McGuire (Amy), Rick Carlisle(Heidi), Stephanie Carlisle (Tony), and Daphne Shows (Ron). He was a cherished brother to his sister, Pat Jennigs. His legacy continues through his 13 adored grandchildren, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
Eddie's life was marked by the love and pride he had for his family, a sentiment deeply reciprocated by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, whose guidance and love laid the foundation for the man he became, and by his brothers, Clint McGuire and Jerry Minor, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.
A self-made businessman, Eddie was the proud owner of M & M Septic Service, where his hard work and dedication were well-known. His entrepreneurial endeavors didn't stop there; he owned a drag strip in Phenix City, which became a favorite local spot under his management. Eddie's business acumen and commitment to his work were admired by many in the community.
Beyond his business ventures, Eddie was a person of varied interests. He had an enduring passion for the thrill of playing slots during his trips to the casino. His engaging and friendly nature made him a well-known figure in these spaces, where he made countless friends and shared many laughs.
