Tracy Lee Adams, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2025, in Phenix City, Alabama, at the age of 76. Born on May 29, 1949, in Ruby, South Carolina, Tracy's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
Tracy's journey began as the beloved son of J.C. and Anna (Threadgil) Adams. He grew up surrounded by his brothers, Dickie, Clark, Eddie Wayne, and Rodney Adams, all of whom preceded him in death. The bonds formed during those early years in South Carolina laid the foundation for Tracy's deeply rooted sense of family and loyalty.
After proudly serving his country for 20 years in the United States Army, Tracy transitioned into civilian life with the same commitment and vigor that characterized his military career. He embarked on a successful tenure in life insurance, helping countless families secure their futures. Later, Tracy joined the United States Postal Service, where he continued to serve his community until his well-earned retirement.
Tracy's life was one of connection and joy. His marriage of 38 years to his beloved spouse, Mary "Nita" Adams, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including five children, Buddy Brannon, Tracy Lee Adams Jr., Trinity Adams, Tony Brannon, and Kimberly Myers. Tracy's legacy continued to flourish through his two grandchildren, Alexa McGowan (Joey) and Kyle Myers, and his treasured great-grandchild, Isaac McGowan. His extended family, numerous and spread throughout North Carolina, will miss his presence dearly.
Known for his friendly demeanor, Tracy was the epitome of a people person. He found great pleasure in the simple ritual of having coffee with local friends at the Waffle House on Hwy 80 in Ladonia. His leadership qualities shone through in every aspect of his life, and he was often found at the helm of any gathering, ensuring everyone felt included and valued.
A collector at heart, Tracy's passion for yard sales was well known. He delighted in the thrill of the hunt, always managing to find unique lamps among his many treasures. His collections were a reflection of his personality-eclectic, interesting, and full of stories.
Above all, Tracy cherished time spent with his family, especially with his great-grandchild, Isaac, who brought immense joy to his later years. His love for his family was evident in every action, every decision, and every smile he shared.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM ET at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. The funeral service will take place the following day, Tuesday, October 14th, 2025, at 11:00 AM ET at the same location, with Buddy Brannon officiating. Tracy will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memory Gardens, where his life will be honored with full military honors and his memory cherished.
Tracy Lee Adams lived a life marked by love, service, and the joy of human connection. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will continue to light the way for all who knew him.
