Edwin "Wayne" Powell, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Born on April 4, 1935, to the late James Powell and the late Lois Mae Altizer, Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Wayne built a long and successful career as a dedicated realtor, spending more than 50 years with Bob Parks Realty, Island Rentals, and his own company, Realty Center, where he found joy in helping families find their dream homes. Outside of work, he loved traveling to the beach-especially Hilton Head and Panama City Beach-spending time with his family and sharing fellowship with his Sunday School Class. He also had a special love for dogs.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Powell, and his brother-in-law, Paul Pritchett.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Powell; his children, Steven (Karen) Powell and Stacie (Kipp) Adams; grandchildren, Jordan Powell and Justin Powell; siblings, Joyce Pritchett, Tom (Lisa) Powell, Jim (Linda) Powell, and Gina (Tommy) Isbell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Sam Clark Chapel, with Rev. Don Rackley officiating.
As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well lived-one filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Wayne Powell will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
