Edwin William Schneider

December 24, 1956 - October 14, 2025

Born to Kenneth and Helen Schneider in Cincinnati Ohio, Ed pursued his passion and became a carpenter, having learned construction working alongside his father, who was a successful contractor. Ed learned about cabinet making as a journeyman, eventually opening his own cabinet making business, Tri-State Laminate & Woodworking. For over 30 years, Ed fabricated custom cabinetry and detailed carpentry work for large scale commercial clients and residential customers throughout the tri-state area. Some of his better-known customers include Barry Larkin of the Cincinnati Reds, James Brooks of the Cincinnati Bengals and Tom Jackson, NFL analyst for ESPN, to name a few.

In his early years Ed played baseball for the vaunted Budde Post baseball team, then studied in the Job Corps of North Carolina where he played Middle Linebacker on the football team.

Ed attended Oak Hills High School where he excelled as a Pitcher for the Highlanders baseball team, pitching a one-hitter in the Tournament of Champions, a rare sterling performance in such a competitive field. Ed graduated from Oak Hills High School in 1975 and immediately put his woodworking skills to work in the construction industry.

Eventually, Ed met, fell in love, and married the former Julie Link. Ed and Julie had two sons, Nichulas and Sam. Although their union did not survive, Ed and Julie remained dear friends who successfully shared the parenting of their boys. Nick and Sam became the light of his life, with Ed serving as the coach of their Knothole league baseball teams and supporting their basketball playing pursuits through high school.

As dedicated Cincinnati Reds fans, one of Ed's goals was to attend a game with his boys in every Major League Baseball stadium. They did get to 16 different stadiums over the years, creating many fond memories and collecting a trove of unique souvenirs at each ballpark.

Over time, both Nick and Sam became fathers themselves, giving Ed three more reasons to boast about - Vanessa, Chandler and Lucas. You could see the love for his grandchildren in his eyes every time he spoke of them.

Yet another love of Ed was animals, canines especially. He always had a loyal four-legged companion, from Layla to Dusty then Jazz and finally, Tank. Ed always had a special place in his heart for his four-legged pals and his face would light up every time he returned home and felt the love.

Ed was known for his selfless service to others and will be fondly remembered for his deep love for family and friends. Ed would jump up when called by a friend asking for help or a favor without fail. He was selfless with his time when asked and had a large core of friends he held close and dear, an extended family. He loved to laugh and his signature, "Ah Ha" will ring in our hearts forever.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Helen; sister Karyn; and brother-in-law Tom Holmes. He is survived by sons Nichulas (spouse Tracy, Vanessa, Lucas) and Sam (Shanice, Chandler); sister Kim Holmes (Andy, Melissa); brothers Ken (spouse Sally, Cole, Kyle, Dakota, Savannah) and Glenn (spouse Kelly, Brad, Adam, Allie, Matthew), and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Spring Grove Funeral Homes - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Mt Healthy, Ohio 45231, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
