It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Mark Swearingen, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who peacefully left this world on August 24, 2025.
A proud graduate of Oak Hills High School (Class of 1977), Mark went on to serve honorably in the United States Marine Corps for three years. Following his service, he worked as a school and charter bus driver before beginning a long and dedicated career with Hamilton County Job & Family Services, where he retired after 30 years of service.
Mark had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. In his younger years, he could often be found fishing, hunting, and sharing those adventures with his children. As life went on, that love of nature evolved into the joy of cultivating beautiful gardens, where his perfectly tended flowers and shrubs reflected both his patience and his pride. Whether outdoors with his family or working in his yard, Mark found peace and fulfillment in the natural world.
He also had a deep fondness for animals—whether caring for his two cats or showing kindness to creatures as unlikely as raccoons or skunks, an extension of his big heart and his willingness to help anyone, or anything, in need.
Mark’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen (Kleinholz) Swearingen; his daughters Heather (Alan) Bedinghaus and Hannah (Allie Ramsey) Swearingen; and his beloved grandchildren Madison, Hailey, and Mason Bedinghaus. He is also survived by his sisters Cindy (Dave) Goddard and Angie (Steve) Longhauser, along with many cherished family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara R. and George C. Swearingen.
Mark’s warmth, humor, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will take place at St. William Church on Tuesday September 2, 2025 from 11am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon.
