Effie LaVurne Davidson, age 95, peacefully passed away in her home Thursday, October 30, 2025 with her family by her side.

LaVurne was born on February 8, 1930, to Jim and Myra Cox near Moorcroft, Wyoming. Being one of five children growing up on a remote farm during the great depression years taught LaVurne to work hard and appreciate what she had. To find work, her parents moved the family to Sheridan, Wyoming where she finished her schooling, graduating in 1948.

She met the love of her life, Hollis Davidson, while attending the rodeo, and they were soon married on December 25, 1948. Hollis and LaVurne went to Denver, Colorado for their honeymoon and barely made it home before the famous Blizzard of 1949 began. Together, they welcomed three children: Bruce (Teresa), Danny (Melaine), and Connie (Mike Turley) and enjoyed 62 wonderful years together before the passing of Hollis in January of 2010.

LaVurne loved spending time in the Big Horn Mountains with her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping despite many hours spent bending over a campfire cooking for those whom she cared for. LaVurne was known for keeping a large garden and baking bread for family and friends. She was an early riser and often had bread in the oven before breakfast. A friend in distress could always expect the comfort of a fresh loaf of bread as an expression of her love.

On July 11, 1983, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in Billings, Montana. She enjoyed sharing her hope of life in a restored earthly paradise with others and did so for as long as she could.

LaVurne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hollis, brothers Roger and Howard Cox, and her sister, Arian Harper.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses, as well as her brother, Ray (Bonnie) Cox, nine grandchildren, Christa Grywusiewicz, Sam Davidson, Brian Davidson, Surrena Michels, Zachary Davidson, Kerri Rehm, Benjamin Turley, Chad Turley, Kelly Turley, and seven great-grandchildren.

LaVurne was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
