Efrain D. Martinez

Efrain Martinez, age 82, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Efrain was born on October 8, 1942, in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico, and built a full life marked by devotion to family, a tireless work ethic, and a deep love for music — especially classic rock ’n’ roll. He proudly called San Antonio home for many years and was known for his strength, generosity, and unforgettable sense of humor.

Efrain was preceded in death by his beloved son, Josue Rafael Martinez, whose memory remained close to his heart. He was also preceded in death by his beloved brother Juventino Martinez, now reunited in spirit.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Imelda Martinez, and his children, Efrain Martinez Jr and Omar Martinez. He was a cherished grandfather to Audrey Orta (husband Simon), Jacob, Avery Gatewood (husband Jesse), Efrain Martinez III, Omar Martinez Jr (wife Allyson), and Joshlyn Martinez. His legacy lives on through his great-grandchildren: Analeese Martinez, Abram Orta, Olivia Martinez, Scarlett Orta, Aileigh Gatewood, Adalynn Martinez, Oliver Martinez, and Kaiya Gatewood. Survived by his loving siblings Elisa, Elida, Jorge, Jose.He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who will always carry his memory in their hearts.

Whether he was working hard to support his family or tapping his foot to the rhythm of The Beatles, Elvis, or CCR, Efrain lived with passion and pride. He brought joy to those around him and left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Chapel Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

His memory will be cherished, his stories remembered, and his music played on.
