Eileen Marie Dick a lifelong member of the Grand Ledge community, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on February 21, 1926, in
Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Paul and Henrietta (Vanden Heuvel) Vander Steen, Eileen's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and a deep sense of family and community.
Eileen graduated from Grand Ledge High School in the Class of 1944 and dedicated many years to her career as an administrative assistant at Doty Insurance. Her warm spirit and kindness touched the lives of many who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures such as playing bingo and poker, immersing herself in the pages of a good book, and nurturing her passion for travel. Eileen often recounted fond memories of her trips to Florida and Alaska, where she experienced the beauty of nature and the richness of life.
A devoted fan of country music, Eileen cherished her visits to the Grand Ole Opry and Branson, performances that brought her joy. Her involvement with the GLHS50+ Alumni Association reflected her commitment to her roots and her pride in the community.
Eileen is survived by her loving son, Michael (Lynne) Dick; her cherished daughter, Cynthia (James) Williams; her beloved grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Richards, Jason (Jackie) Edgewater, Jennifer (Mike) Dauernhein, Justin Edin, Jennifer (Graham) Motley, Jacob (Jocelyn) Edin, Tonia (Don) Turnbull, and Chris (Shawn) Williams; 15 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many niece and nephews who will remember her warmth and wisdom. She was a remarkable mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her husband Cletis in 2002; siblings, Lorraine Rogers, Thomas, Norbert, and Ray Vander Steen.
A funeral service will be held in her honor on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life. Visitation will take place on Monday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. Eileen will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in
Grand Ledge, Michigan.
