Jean E. LeRoux, 87, of Bethel, was called home to the Lord on November 13th at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on May 20th, 1938, in Franklin, New Hampshire to the late Emile J. LeRoux and Rose Blanche (Lemire).
Jean grew up in a close knit religious family surrounded by her siblings Guy, Andre, Pat, Elaine, and Nancy, in Franklin, NH. Throughout childhood and into adult years she enjoyed trips to visit family in Quebec, Canada; family and God were of the highest importance to her. The Leroux family moved to Norwalk, CT in the 1940's where her brother Bruce was born and they stayed until the 1950's when they bought their home in Bethel, CT. During this time Jean began to work in the home of Stew and Marianne Leonard whom she loved dearly, and they became life-long friends. Even though Jean did not have any biological children of her own, she was a mother to all and always took care of her family physically and spiritually. She was very religious and attended mass every day, praying for her family and the betterment of mankind. Jean was quite the spitfire, taking care of her house and large yard, it was common to see her on her tractor or cutting down trees with her chainsaw, right up to the very end. She was a hard worker who rested only on Sundays, which was the day for her to spend with her beloved sister and partner in crime Nancy; usually checking out thrift stores in Westport and Norwalk or at home enjoying a good movie. Jean was the rock of the Leroux family and will be greatly missed by all.
Jean is survived by her sister, Nancy Macko; her goddaughter, Deanna LeRoux; her nephews Warren Macko (Catherine), Michael Macko (Rina), Glen LeRoux, Gary LeRoux (Marsha), John Ferris (Judy), Joey Ferris, and Jeff Ferris; her nieces Sharon Kearney, Selina Moschello, Kim Branca, Margaret Tomlin; as well as several great nieces and great nephews. Jean is predeceased by her brothers Guy, Andre, and Bruce LeRoux; her sisters Elaine Ferris and Patricia Moschello; her nieces Michelle Ferris and Debbie Lynch; and her nephews Peter LeRoux, Jimmy Ferris, Billy Ferris, and Jude Ferris.
A visitation for Jean will take place on Monday November 17th from 6-8 PM at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM the following day, November 18th, at Sacred Heart Church, 12 Cottage Street, Danbury. A burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery immediately after Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
