Eileen Mercedes Mejia, 71, of Woodbridge VA, passed away on July 24, 2025.

Eileen was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Francisco Mejia-Flores and Eileen Mercedes Buso on January 13, 1954. Her 5 siblings knew her as "Bibi", a name from birth that her brother, Douglas at 18 months old, could only blurt out 'Bibi' rather than 'baby'. Within the family, the nickname "Bibi" has endured as it stands as testimonial that she was ours to love forever. It was a tight family as six children were born in a span of 8 years – 3 boys, then 3 girls. Amen.

As the child of an U.S. Army officer, she received her early education in several states in the USA as well as at the Panama Canal Zone in Panama. She is a graduate of Woodbridge Senior High School class of 1972 and continued her education at Mary Washington University, Fredericksburg, VA where she obtained a BA in Political Science. She excelled and in her senior year served as Class President. She then entered the Armed Services as a Commissioned Officer where she served for 17 years with various posts in Germany, Korea and Alaska. She retired from the Army in 1988 as a Major. Eileen then became a civil servant within the Department of Defense, retiring with 35 years of service in 2023.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Francisco Mejia-Flores (2022), Eileen M B Mejia (1993), and a sister, Betty Ann (2015). She is survived by her brothers Francisco, Edward, Douglas and sister Yvonne along with their numerous extended family members.

Throughout her life, Eileen enjoyed a prayerful and private life with her extended family and church community. As such, the family will hold a Holy Mass and private funeral service in her honor.
