Elaine Bell Obituary

It is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the passing and celebrate the life of Elaine Marie Bell. Following a lengthy battle with breast cancer and mild dementia, Elaine passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025 at The Inn at Greenwood Village, an assisted living facility in Greenwood Village, CO.

Elaine was born on April 19, 1950, in Deadwood, SD, to Calvin and Mabel Stomprud, cattle ranchers in Mud Butte, SD. She graduated from Newell High School in 1968 and went on to South Dakota State in Brookings, SD, earning a degree in mathematics in 1972. Mathematics was the closest thing they had at the time to a degree program in Computer Science. She actually wanted a career in computers. She moved to Denver, CO shortly after graduating from college, where she met Al on a blind date her first night in town.

Elaine worked for The Hartford Insurance as a Marine Underwriter until the year 2000, taking early retirement. She was known for her strong work ethic and wonderful problem-solving skills. She and Al made the Denver area home until 2001 when they moved to Cleveland, GA where they made a new home for 21 years. Her and Al moved back to Colorado after her diagnosis with stage 4 breast cancer in 2022.

Elaine had a passion for the church (Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Parker, CO and Concord Baptist Church in Clermont, GA). Other passions included the church choir at both locations, Jaycee Women, and a church charitable organization called the Hope Center in Clermont, GA, which provided food and clothing to those in need. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her infectious laugh and smile.

Elaine was preceded in death by her Brother Vern Stomprud and her parents Calvin and Mable Stomprud.

She is survived by Al Bell, her husband of 52 years; her children, Brian (Shannon) Bell and Tamara (Eric) Hybertson; and her 5 grandchildren: Calvin, Irelyn, Belle, Dayla, and Charlotte. Brother Larry Stomprud, sisters Gay Lund and Sharon Tracy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her life is summarized with five "F" words: Family, Friends, Flowers, Food, and Fun. She loved playing golf and the great outdoors. Her life was filled with kindness, grace, compassion, and appreciation of beauty, even while battling cancer. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She will be missed.

A remembrance service will be held at 4:oo pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church (PEPC). She will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO at a later date.
