Elaine A. Best

Elaine A. Best, 85, a lifetime Springdale resident, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 28, 2025, with close friends by her side, after complications from a stroke. She was born to the late John and Ann Best on August 14, 1939. Elaine was gentle, thoughtful, caring, funny and deeply spiritual, she was always up for an adventure, a meal with friends and just spending time with people she cared about. Although her career was as an accountant, at Bunker Ramo Co., Emerson TV & Radio, American Thread and then various nonprofits, including the Stamford Art Assoc., Stamford Museum & Nature Center, the Stamford Historical Society, and Sound Waters, her passion was as an artist. Elaine worked in many mediums but photography was her true love. Elaine was a member of the Darien Lions Club, proudly wearing the lion costume in the Memorial Day parades and a member of Loft Artist Association for over 25 years. She attended Stamford Baptist Church and found great peace in women's Bible studies and prayer services. For the past three years, she was a leader in the Awana program working with Cubbies (3-4 year olds). Elaine loved the children and they loved her. She also volunteered wherever needed in preparing for church events. Elaine previously attended the First Presbyterian Church where she volunteered as a deacon, went on several mission trips to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and helped with the church's after-school program and soup kitchen ministry.
Elaine was known for her fun hats, especially the sparkly one that said "HOT". She loved the attention she received when wearing that hat. Elaine will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held at Stamford Baptist Church, 602 High Ridge Road, Stamford, CT on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
