Elaine Brackup Obituary

Elaine was born in Brooklyn, New York to Isidore and Anna Rubin.
Elaine's husband of 67 years, Dr. Alvin Brackup, died in 2016.
Elaine worked as a bookkeeper while Alvin was in medical school and later managed Alvin's ophthalmology practice in Queens for over 40 years. Elaine and Alvin raised their children in Great Neck, New York.
Elaine served as president of the PTA at North Shore Hebrew Academy and of the sisterhood at Temple Israel of Great Neck. Upon their retirement, Elaine and Alvin enjoyed traveling, playing golf, skiing, and fishing. Elaine was an avid Bridge and Mah Jong player and enjoyed many exciting games with friends at Green Briar in New Jersey before moving to Holland Village in Newtown, PA.
Elaine leaves her three children and their spouses, Dr. Ellen Brackup and her husband, David Leaderman, of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Alan Brackup and his wife, Eileen, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and Dr. Ivy Brackup and her wife, Heidi Holland, of Boston, Massachusetts. Elaine also leaves four grandchildren, Robert Brackup and his wife, Dana, Julia Brackup and her wife, Sara Plasencia, Shane Brackup, Pearl Brackup, and great-granddaughter, Madelyn Marie Brackup.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 1:15pm, at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11704, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, East Brunswick, NJ. For directions, please visit our "Services" page.
Elaine was a lifelong supporter of Hadassah and donations in her memory can be made to Hadassah.org
