Elaine Cox Obituary
Published by Legacy from Sep. 29 to Oct. 1, 2025.
In the early morning hours of September 25, 2025, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Linda Elaine Cox, peacefully returned to the presence of her Heavenly Father at the age of 79.
Elaine was born on December 20, 1945, in Ogden, Utah. Over the course of her life, she called Utah, Arizona, and Idaho home, touching lives and leaving warmth wherever she went. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served a mission in Columbus, Ohio, sharing her testimony and kindness with all she met.
Elaine worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, each one chosen with a heart to serve. At Intermountain Health Care's LDS Hospital, she contributed with compassion and diligence. As a substitute teacher for Head Start, she found joy in helping young children learn and grow, especially those who needed a little extra love. Whether working with the hearing and vision impaired or scooping ice cream in the deli just to bring a smile to someone's face, Elaine had a way of making ordinary moments meaningful.
In her church, she served faithfully in many callings, but perhaps her favorite role was that of librarian, a position she held for many years. Surrounded by stories, knowledge, and the quiet comfort of that space, she served her ward with quiet grace and deep commitment.
Elaine was immensely proud of her Scottish heritage-nothing stirred her soul quite like the sound of bagpipes. Her generous spirit, welcoming heart, and unwavering belief in the worth of every individual made her a friend to many and a source of strength to all who knew her. She never let anyone feel unseen or unloved.
Elaine is now reunited with her beloved husband, Warren who predeceased her in 2023. Their great love now continues on the other side of the veil.
Above all else, Elaine's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and proud mother to her children-Jennifer, Emily, and Michael-whom she supported and cherished every day of her life. Her eyes sparkled when she spoke of her grandchildren, watching with delight as they grew into young adults. She was looking forward with joyful anticipation to the day she would become a great-grandmother.
Elaine leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering kindness. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the impact of her life will be remembered always.
A viewing and chance to reminisce will take place on Thursday October 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day ward house located at 7511 South 2700 West in West Jordan, Utah.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Elaine's life the next morning October 3rd and the same ward house. A short viewing will start at 10 a.m. with the service starting at 11 a.m.
Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek, Utah immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to do something kind for someone in need-just as Elaine would have done.
