Elaine J. Nelson

Elaine Joyce Nelson, 92, formerly of Escanaba, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.

She was born in Escanaba on August 12, 1933, the daughter of Einer and Victoria (Nelson) Beck. Elaine attended Escanaba High School, graduating class of 1951. She was a lifelong resident of Escanaba besides four years in Chillicothe, OH and the last two years in Cincinnati.

On, September 13th, 1952, Elaine married Richard Nelson in Escanaba.

Elaine worked for the Delta Menominee County Health Department from 1951 – 1961. In 1981, she began working for her aunt, Ruth Beck at the Morrison Shop.

Elaine was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan. She enjoyed playing bridge and was in her bridge club for over 50 years. As an avid golfer, she was a member of the Escanaba Country Club and Highland Golf Club. In her younger years, she enjoyed ice skating and participating in many local ice revues.

She is survived by her son, Barry (Kelcey) Nelson of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Gunnar Nelson, Darby Nelson, Delaney Nelson; siblings, Mike (Carol) Beck and Pat (Patty) Beck; sister-in-law, Linda Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; daughter, Becky Nelson; sister, Carol (Robert) Lancour; and brother, Bruce Beck.

Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
