Elaine Smith Obituary

Elaine M. Smith (nee Devinney), a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in Media, Pennsylvania. Born in Philadelphia, Pa to loving parents, the late Martin and Rosemary Devinney. She was the eldest of ten children.
Elaine's journey through life was marked by her selflessness, unwavering kindness and the simplicity with which she approached each day. Elaine's life was a testament to the enduring strength of family bonds. She was a devoted mother to Jennifer (Steve), Lori (Fritz), and David, and a doting grandmother to Fritz, Gabriella, Isabella, and Brynlie.
Elaine was the cherished sister of William, Joseph, Michael, Mary, and Patsy (Bob), and Peggy (the late George), and she had good memories of her siblings Martin, Theresa, and Nancy, who predeceased her. She will be missed by a host of nieces and nephews who were very fond of her. For many years, Elaine served her community as a bank teller at several banks. Her colleagues and customers alike will remember her for her reliability and the personal touch she brought to her work.
Elaine's passions were simple yet profoundly fulfilling. Mornings were sacred to her, as she greeted each day with her carefully prepared coffee, her splenda and coffee mate ratio were an exact science. Summers she and her family made lasting memories in Ocean City, Maryland. There, the sand between her toes and the promise of a funnel cake on the boardwalk filled her with happiness.
The thrill of the casino was another of Elaine's joys, as she searched for that perfect slot machine that seemed to call out to her. Her evenings were punctuated by a heartfelt ritual-a "Goodnight, I love you always and forever" text to her children, a simple yet profound affirmation of her endless love.
As the night settled in, Elaine would retire to the comfort of her room to indulge in her favorite show, Judge Judy, which provided a fitting end to her days filled with quiet contentment and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home 301 Chester Pike
Norwood, Pa. Followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
