Eleanor Bernardo, 96, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was born February 25, 1927, in Warren, Ohio the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Airwyke) Wortman. She married Louis Bernardo II on January 15, 1946.
Eleanor and her husband Louis were horse enthusiasts and enjoyed trail raiding through Ashtabula County. Mrs. Bernardo loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed painting. Eleanor also liked to write music and poetry and had two songs and four of her poems published over the years. She loved to celebrate any holiday, but they were even better when they were spent with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis II on July 20, 2014; her son Louis III in 2018; her great-grandson, Erik Bernardo, II in 2017; many siblings and her parents.
Eleanor is survived by her grandchildren, Erik Bernardo; Louis (Leslie Chute) Bernardo, IV, Jeffery Bernardo, Michelle (Adam) Bernardo- Jahn, Michael Bernardo, and Kristy Rocha; sister, Virginia Maycroft, as well as 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 12PM at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
