Eleanor S. Casavant

Eleanor S. Casavant passed away on May 23rd, 2025, at her home in Essex, JCT, with her loving family by her side. Ellie was born in Johnson, Vermont, to Ken and Hazel Stewart on February 12th, 1936.
She went to school in Johnson and graduated from Johnson High School in 1954. She was married to the love of her life Clint Casavant on October 4th, 1956, whom proceeded in death on December 6th, 2020. She had many accomplishments in her life. She was an Assistant Town Clerk in Johnson, then went to work at Johnson State College in the Register's Office. Once moving to Essex Junction with her husband in 1989, she worked at Saint Michaels College in the Register's Office for a short time, before she started working at Yankee Pride Quilt shop in the Winooski Mill. She loved to sew, quilt, and knit. Over the years she made several quilts, sweaters, and blankets for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ellie and her husband joined a bowling league when they became residents of Essex Junction. They played at Essex Lanes and it was one of their favorite activities to do together. She also was a part of the Essex Alliance Church in the early 2000s. She loved being in the choir and performing at their annual Christmas Spectacular shows. In her later life she loved passing her time playing "go-fish". Ellie's greatest joy in life was helping take care of her grand children.
Ellie is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Casavant, Cindy (Casavant) Gillespie, Denise (Casavant) Morse, and son-in-law Bradford Morse. Grandchildren, Sarah (Gillespie) Tubbs, Curtis Tubbs, Amy Gillespie, Brad Collins, Andrew Gillespie, Erinn Morse, and Kelly Morse. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Ella Cunningham, Blaine Gillespie, Wyatt Morse, Poppy Collins, Luke Collins, Emory Gillespie, and Iris Tubbs.
Her funeral service will be held at Corbin and Palmer in Essex Junction on Thursday May 29th at 10AM. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Essex Junction.
