It is with a blend of profound sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Eleanor M. Eppley, an extraordinary member of the "Greatest Generation," who left us peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on November 4, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, Eleanor embraced life with joy and resilience, achieving a remarkable milestone by never missing a day of school throughout her 12 years of education, culminating in her graduation from Willoughby Union High School in 1949.
Eleanor, who played the accordion in her youth, had a cherished passion for travel, dance, and the lively rhythms of polka music. Throughout her career, she served as a dedicated secretary for various corporations, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and clients alike.
A proud daughter of immigrant parents from Slovenia, Eleanor cherished her heritage and was actively involved in her community, particularly as a member of SNPJ Lodge 5 NAPREJ and through her many years of service at the SNPJ Farm in Kirtland, Ohio. She was deeply thankful to live in America, and she held a special appreciation for all who served in the armed forces.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, and her brother, Raymond. She is survived by her son, Dean Eppley, along with two nieces and three nephews, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Eleanor's spirit lives on in the laughter of her family, the vibrant tunes of polka music, and the cherished memories she created with those who knew and loved her. Join us as we celebrate a life well-lived and a heart that brought joy to so many.
At Eleanor's request her services were private.
