Eleanor Marie Hatchell
October 21, 1935 – February 23, 2025
Eleanor Marie Hatchell, 89, passed away peacefully at The Hillcrest of North Dallas on February 23, 2024. She was a Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.
She was born in Marquette, Nebraska on October 21, 1935, and grew up in Grand Island Nebraska. After graduating from Grand Island High School in 1953, she attained her Associate of Arts degree from Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa in 1955. Later, she earned her Bachelor of Applied Studies degree from the University of Minnesota in 1978. She worked at South Dakota State University in Brookings prior to moving to the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Once in Minneapolis, she took a position with Control Data Corporation, followed by positions with subsequent companies. She was a member of Saint Phillips Lutheran Church in Fridley, Minnesota before moving to Plano, Texas where she was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church during her retirement.
Eleanor cherished spending time with family and friends. She always made sure to get photographs of everyone on holidays, parties, and family gatherings. Her smiles were wide when surrounded by her immediate family as well as her nieces, nephew, and their children. In her later years, she enjoyed playing RUMMIKUB and Bingo with her friends at Plano Community Homes and at The Hillcrest of North Dallas.
Eleanor was preceded in death by parents Herluf and Anna Bollesen, and brother Vernon (Claire) Bollesen.
She is survived by daughters Carolyn (Kent) Halland of The Colony, Texas, Cathy (Kevin) Lynn of Elkton, South Dakota, and Mary (Curt Canfield) Turner of Brookings, South Dakota. Grandchildren Melissa (JR) May, Jeremy (Ashley) Halland, Tiffanie (Jake) Cochran, Jessica (Lucas) Houtman, Tristian (Jackie) Olsen, Derek Turner, Wade Turner, Megan (Matt) Busche, Darian (Mike Pieper) Turner. Great-grandchildren Nathan, Samuel, Monroe, Calvin, Adriyanna, Eleanor, Harrison, Autumn, Colton, and Vincent, Mason, Miles, Mackenzie, Bradyn, Michael, and Kenzie.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1919 Independence Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75075 on March 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (972) 867-0460.
Interment will be at Saint John's Lutheran Church (the Kronborg church), 2174 N T Road, Marquette, Nebraska 68854.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Resurrection Lutheran Church or Saint John's Lutheran Church.
