Eleanor Pauline Salter, of Lake Cherokee passed away at her home on Sunday, December 11, 2022. She was born on July 4, 1938, in Avinger, Texas to the late Christine and IC "Boots" Wimberly. She was a 1956 graduate of Carthage High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Northwestern State University and a Masters of Education in Elementary Education from SMU. She retired from LISD after many years. She was an excellent teacher.
Eleanor was a member of The First Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband J.E. and their beloved dogs through the years. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan and attended the 1976 Super Bowl in Miami, FL where they played the Pittsburg Stealers. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had the biggest heart for her family and all animals. She was loving, kindhearted and so funny. She will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, James "JE" Salter; her parents; and sister, Carol Barton.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Richy Wall and wife, Samantha Wall of Diana, TX; daughter, Stacy Cady of Richardson, TX; sister, Janette Mahurin and husband, Johnny Mahurin of Longview, TX; sister in law, Bettie Salter Ross of Lake Cherokee, TX; grandchildren, Dirk and Amanda Wall of Montgomery, TX; Blake and Blake Silguero of Buda, TX; Ty and Kacie Wall of Boerne, TX; Hunter Cady of Dallas, TX; Christina Giordano of Richardson, TX; great grandchildren, Landon & Dylan Wall; Quinn Silguero; Finley Giordano; and numerous other beloved family members and friends.
The family extends special thanks to Betty Heim and Bettie Ross for checking on her daily and for all of the good food that was shared.
A Life Celebration® funeral service for Eleanor Salter, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 in The Cammack Family Welch Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service for a time of visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Christian Church or Hope for Pets Rescue.
