Sister Eleanor Wartman

Wartman, Sister Eleanor, OSB age 93, of St. Paul's Monastery died on March 6, 2025, at the Monastery, having lived and ministered as a Benedictine Sister for 75 years. Sister Eleanor made first vows in July 1949. Sister taught primary grades at St. Bernard's, St. Paul; Assumption, Richfield; St. Anne's, Minneapolis; St. Hubert's, Chanhassen and St. Bartholomew, Wayzata. She served as principal at Assumption and St. Anne's. She continued pastoral care ministry at St. Charles, Bayport; Guardian Angels, Lake Elmo; St. Therese Southwest (the Glenn), Hopkins and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Minnetonka. She served as Prioress of St. Paul's Monastery from 1992-96 and Sub Prioress for 10 years prior to that. She is survived by her sister Mary Moore, her brother Phabe (Rita), nieces and nephews, her Benedictine Sisters and Oblates of St. Paul's Monastery. Thursday, March 13, 11:00 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Minnetonka livestream at Ihm-cc.org, Visitation one hour before the service. Wake at St. Paul's Monastery, 2675 Benet Road, Maplewood, MN from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 13. Mass of Christian Burial at the Monastery on Friday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. with limited accommodations will be live streamed. Visitation one hour before service. Interment at Monastery Cemetery.
