Elena Cristobal, a strong, courageous, loving, and funny wife and mother, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. Born on November 28, 1938, in Bontoc, Southern Leyte, Philippines, Elena was a beacon of light to all who knew her. She was affectionately known by her dear ones as Nanay, 'Nay, Lola, and Mima. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her incredible strength, and her unyielding love for her family. As a devout Christian, Elena was a fervent prayer warrior, always ready to pray with her rosary in hand. A verse that truly exemplifies her faith is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13.
Elena was a smart and hardworking woman, with an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room. She was a talented seamstress, working in a bridal shop, and later retiring from it. Elena was an active member of the Puericulture Ladies Club in Las Pinas City, Philippines, and she loved to cook, especially mechado and ginataan. Her garden was her pride and joy, and she cherished her time spent with her grandkids and great grandkids. She was strict yet very loving and caring mother to all her children. A helping sister to her siblings and to all that were in need emotionally and financially. Elena was also a persistent woman who, despite jokingly calling herself 'Ms. Absentee', pursued and completed her primary education - a high achievement in her time.
Elena was the loving matriarch of a large and cherished family. She is survived by her children, Manuel (Dylene) Cristobal, Gilberto (Patricia) Cristobal, Eduardo (Lalie) Cristobal, Shane (Glennmay) Cristobal, Segundo (Rowena) Cristobal Jr., Modesta (Paul) Plamenco, and Elizabeth Cristobal; her grandchildren, Ritchie Cristobal, Richanne (Jeremy) Rosellini, Manuelito (Flor) Cristobal, Nicki (Robert) Grace, Katrina (Blake) Cristobal, Gino (Marilyn) Cristobal, Patrick (Josh) Cristobal, Darryll (Chelcie) Cristobal, Precious (Sam) Saucedo, Brandon Cristobal, Sheynae Cristobal, Carmichael Plamenco, and Celwin Plamenco; and her great grandchildren, Remino, Reciano, Roland, Mandilea, Liam, Greyson, Lilliana and Ezekiel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Segundo Cristobal, her parents, Federico and Basilisa Abarico, and her sister, Maria Ayuban.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 5:00 pm at Myers Mortuary,
Roy, Utah. A subsequent viewing will be on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm at the same location.
