Born in Brownsville, Texas, to Enrique and Zulema Perez, Elias was one of eight children. Elias served honorably in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956, and in the Army Reserves until 1961, earning the National Defense Service Medal for service during the Korean War. After serving in the Army Reserves, Elias worked as an electrical engineer at Kelly Air Force Base from 1956 until his retirement in 1988.
In 1958, Elias lived in Corpus Christi, Texas and met the love of his life and married Rosa Gonzales. Together, they moved from Corpus Christi, Texas to San Antonio where they resided until their passing.
Elias and Rosa have 7 children together, 5 sons and 2 daughters. Elias (wife Maria), Richard, Yvonne, Joe (wife Doris), Yvette, (husband John Lorea), John (wife Vivian) and Kevin. Elias and Rosa were married for 54 wonderful years until her passing in 2014. Both Elias and Rosa were proud grandparents to 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In his retirement years, Elias enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing with his sons, and traveling the world with his daughters.
Elias will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, honorable veteran, and for his joyful spirit. He leaves behind a legacy that will be forever cherished by all who knew him. He will dearly be missed by his family.
