Elinor Elaine (Cody) Murnan, 94, of Maryville TN, went to her heavenly home on March 12, 2025 surrounded by family.
Born on May 10th, 1930 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, she was the daughter of Bertha and Lyman Cody. Elinor fell in love with Chuck Murnan and were married in 1950. Not long after they married, Chuck felt called into the ministry. After attending seminary, they began their ministry in the Lutheran church. Through the years, they served God and their family faithfully.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles B. Murnan, daughter, Cynthia Murnan, sister Lois Jacobsen (Wayne), parents Bertha and Lyman Cody, son-in-law Arden Bramlett, brother-in-law Karl Miller. She is survived by her children Charles Murnan III, Cheryl Kenney and Connie Bramlett; grandchildren, Uriah Murnan, Elaine Hurst (Colin), Sean Cody and Will Bramlett; Great-grandsons, Cody Hurst and Emmett Hurst, and sister-in-law Karen Miller, nephews Wayne Jacobsen (Diane), Scott Jacobsen (Shari), Keith Miller, Ken Miller.
We give thanks for our beloved Elinor as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. For her life and her family. For her example of faith and love for us. For her love of the Savior and her hope in His promises.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 29th at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, with Pastor Allen Garrett officiating. Receiving of friends will be from 12:30-1:00 with the service beginning at 1:00. A dessert reception will be held at Cheryl’s home following the service.
