Elio Liberati, 90, passed away peacefully with family on February 1, 2025, in Mount Kisco, NY.
Elio was born on July 10, 1934, in Tagliacozzo, Italy, to Francesco and Cristina Liberati. He was the baby and adored by his siblings Renzo, Claudio, Velia, Totino and Armando.
Elio spent his youth helping to manage his family property in Tagliacozzo where he was fond of spending time with the animals and working the vineyards. He was a talented soccer player and became the captain of a professional team at a young age. He was passionate about the sport and enjoyed traveling throughout Italy to play. He also traveled while he was a Sergeant in the Italian Army. Soon Elio's travels took him to New York where he immigrated and started his long career as a skilled Machinist working for several companies on complex products. Elio worked two and sometimes three jobs to send money home to his mother and to provide a better life for his family throughout the years.
Elio married Giuseppina Correale on October 29, 1966, after he saw her and said, "she's the one for me."
Elio is survived by Giuseppina and fondly remembered by his two daughters Marisa Cioffi and Cristina Liberati, as well as his son-in-law John Cioffi and grand daughters Gina and Angela Cioffi. Elio will tell you his greatest and proudest achievement is his family. To him Famiglia e tutto! Family is everything.
Elio was extremely skilled often building or fixing things around his house and for others. He was an avid gardener quite proud of his tomatoes and vegetables. Once he finally sat to relax, he could be found routing for his favorite Italian soccer team Inter.
